In this case, the following causes are possible.
If you are using Air 1, Air 10s, or MG80 Pro (Commander mode), please refer to the FAQ for each model.
- Communication failure between camera and flash due to poor contact with the hot shoe
Clean the camera’s hot shoe and the metal part of the flash’s mounting foot with anhydrous ethanol or a mild household detergent diluted with water. - Program malfunction
In rare cases, the flash may malfunction due to a program error, so reset the flash. - High speed sync is being used.
When using high-speed sync (FP flash), unlike normal flash, the guide number decreases as the shutter speed is increased (so a picture will appear darker even if the same amount of light is emitted). - Firing the flash before the flash is fully charged.
If you release the shutter before the flash is fully charged (before the pilot lamp turns from red to green), the flash may not fire at the correct intensity or may not fire at all.
It is recommended to reduce the amount of light emitted by increasing the ISO sensitivity, opening the aperture, stopping High-Speed Synchro, etc., or to increase the flash interval, or to shorten the recharging time by replacing the batteries with new ones or using an external power supply such as Power Pack PS 8. - You are using a combination that is not guaranteed to work
Even if the camera and flash (commander) have the same mount, some combinations may not work properly depending on the model.
Please refer to the “compatibility chart” on each product page to check if our product can be used with your camera. - Deterioration of the light emitting tube
The flash tube is a consumable item. If the flash tube is used frequently, especially for high flash output or high-speed sync, it may deteriorate due to heating over a short period of time, resulting in incorrect flash output or failure to fire.
If none of the above 1-5 apply to you, the flash tube may have deteriorated and needs to be repaired, so please apply for repair from the Repair & Inquiry page.
Please note that the flash tube is treated as a consumable item and will be repaired for a fee even if it is within the warranty period.
